Teaching Overview
Digital Media and Animation educator with 19 years of experience in education at the high school level, with additional university experience as an Adjunct Lecturer in Advanced Animation at UT San Antonio. I create structured, supportive learning environments that help students build confidence with digital tools, visual storytelling, and project-based creative work.
My Courses
High School
Animation I
Introduces the fundamentals of animation through simple digital projects. Students learn timing, spacing, keyframing, and basic character motion using Adobe Animate and other digital tools.
Graphic Design I
Covers the foundations of design, including typography, color theory, layout, and visual communication. Students create digital artwork and branding pieces using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Animation II
An advanced course focusing on digital storytelling, character performance, and more complex animation workflows. Students create short animated pieces using industry-standard software.
Graphic Design II
Builds on design fundamentals with deeper projects in branding, layout, advertising, and digital illustration. Students focus on creating polished, portfolio-ready work.
Practicum in Animation
A project-based capstone where students develop professional-style animation work. Emphasis is on pipelines, problem-solving, and completing work for real or simulated clients.
Principles of Arts, A/V Technology & Communications
An introduction to digital media pathways, covering photography, audio/video, basic design concepts, and the creative technology tools used across A/V and communication industries.
University
Advanced Animation (UTSA)
Upper-level course focusing on digital animation, visual storytelling, and creative problem-solving. Students develop original projects using Blender, After Effects, and Adobe Animate.
Teaching Approach
I focus on clarity, structure, and creativity. I use recorded demos, step-by-step project guides, and digital materials that allow students to learn at their own pace while still receiving individualized support. My classes emphasize visual storytelling, technical skill-building, and the confidence to develop original work.
